The district government of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, continues to strive to improve the quality of human resources (HR) in the region, including through Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

The Kotabaru Assistant II for Economy and Development H. Murdianto said this program is a concrete step in improving the quality of HR, especially for children and young people in the Kotabaru District.

“Good nutrition is essential to support the growth, health and learning abilites of children as the nation's future generation. The Kotabaru District Government strongly support positive activities like this,” he remarked at the inuguration of  Sigam Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) as reported on Wednesday.

Murdianto informed that Kotabaru still need more MBG kitchen or SPPG to reach all areas, especially in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.

For this purpose, the local government continue to coordinate with various parties and potential investors to expand MBG services in Kotabaru.

He believes, improving the quality of education is not determined only by learning aspect, but also by ensruring good nutrition for children.

“MBG program is an important step in realizing healthy, intelligent, and competitive generation in the future,” he said.

Chair of Youth Entrepreneurship School Foundation, Munzirin, said the newly inaugurated SPPG Sigam is the 7th unit operating in Kotabaru. 

According to him, MBG is the government's priority program aims at creating healthy generation towards Golden Indonesia.

“This program is not only providing nutritious meal for school children, but also part of a joint effort to create an intelligent generation. We hope all parties to support and give input to ensure the success of this program,” he said.
