Deputy Regent of Kotabaru, South  Kalimantan, H Syairi Mukhlis inspected infrastructure in the northern part of the district, Pamukan Utara and Pamukan Selatan, as the local government's commitment to accelerate equitable development.

“We want to ensure that the repair of roads connecting villages and sub-districts is carried out according to plan, so that people can enjoy comfortable connectivity in their areas,” said Deputy Regent.

The roads inspected included roads in Sukadana Village, Pamukan Selatan sub-district.

He also inspected roads connecting villages of Siayuh, Tanjung Sari, Sulangkit up to Tanjung Samalantakan.

The inspection revealed several areas with severe damage, especially in Siayuh and Tanjung Sari villages.

Deputy Regent said the road repairs are planned for 2026 through tender process and currently in the Procurement Service Unit (ULP) stage.

“Insya Allah (God Willing) the work will be carried out this year through tender process at the ULP. Hopefuly all process will run smoothly, the planned work can be completed and the community feel the benefits,” he said.

Deputy Regent also found three brigdes severely damaged in Tanjung Samalantakan area, two of which with potholes and considered dangerous to road users.

“We will coordinate with Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office and third parties to immediately repair (the damage),” he pointed out.

He emphasized that the local government is committed to repairing roads and bridges infrastructure in stages, in accordance with the regional financial capabilities. 

Syairi Mukhlis urged people and transportation companies to work together to maintain road condition to prevent rapid deterioration.

“If the road is in good condition, let us maintain together. Transportation capacity must be adjusted to road's capacity to prevent rapid damage and ensure the entire community can enjoy the benefits,” he concluded.
