Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 7/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The app-based taxi service or popularly known as online taxi continues to develop a network in South Kalimantan, which consisting of 13 districts and cities.

AntaranewsKalsel has monitored in Banjarmasin on Saturday one of the online taxi group invites owners of various types of vehicles to join them.

The offer was by spreading leaflets to the homes of residents in Banjarmasin, especially at the residence that cars look in the yards.

In inviting to join them, the group of online taxis provides an idea of the potential income Rp8 million per month.

The Rp8 million per month revenue becomes a consideration for an employee because online taxis are not bound by time or do not interfere with office work because of it just as a side job.

The increasingly expansive attitude of online taxis grows protests and adds to the anger of conventional taxi drivers, as they feel to loss of passengers and their income drops dramatically.

According to the Chairman of the Banjarmasin Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) Askulani, conventional taxi revenues declined by 50 percent even to 80 percent as the existence of app-based taxi service.

For example, airport taxis carry passengers up to five times a day before the presence of taxis online, but now only once, sometimes they got passengers after three days.

Therefore, conventional taxi drivers asked the government to take action and stop the online taxi operation, because they are unlicensed, Askulani said.

Separately, Head of South Kalimantan Transportation Agency H Rusdiansyah said his office in cooperation with the local police would curb illegal taxis (unlicensed), including unlicensed online taxis.

"We hope the problem between conventional taxis and online to immediately find a solution, while the authority to stop online taxi applications is not in the regions, but in the central government or the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kominfo)," explained Rusdiansyah.
