Regent of Kotabaru H Muhammad Rusli has signed a contract for the continuation of Pulau Laut Bridge construction together with Tanah Bumbu Regent and the government of South Kalimantan Province at the provincial Public Works and Spatial Planning Office in Banjarbaru.
South Kalimantan Governor H Muhidin emphasized that Pulau Laut-Batulicin bridge is not just a physical project, but a major step toward boosting new economic growth in South Kalimantan.
“This is a strategic project that will open access, reduce travel time, and pushing economic activity for the community,” he said here on Monday.

The signing of multi-year contract extension was witnessed by the Governor of South Kalimantan Selatan H Muhidin, Kotabaru Regent Muhammad Rusli and Tanah Bumbu Regent Andi Rudi Latif.
With a multi-year scheme, this project is designed to ensure the continuity of contruction until completion, considering the high invenstment value and complexity of the contruction.
“We'are sharing the investment value. Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu are each allocating Rp100 billion and the provincial government Rp550 billion per year. The total annual investment is Rp750 billion for the construction of the edge section. The Ministry of Public Works will carry out the middle section worth Rp3 trillion” he expounded.

He hopes that the construction of Pulau Laut Bridge can be completed on target in 2028.
Governor asserted the importance pf local government involvement in supervising the project to ensure the construction's timely completion and quality standards.
Pulau Laut bridge is expected to become a gateway to regional connectivity, and boost leading sector, such as trade, logistics, fisheries and tourism.
The presence of the Kotabaru Regent is proof of the local government's commitment to realizing the acceleration of sustainable infrastructure development and having a direct impact on the welfare of the community.
