Paringin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Soccer School Team (SSB) Batu Agung from Balangan, South Kalimantan, who represents Indonesia in the final World Danone Nation Cup (DNC), beat the Portuguese with a 6-2 on Thursday (21/9).


SSB Batu Agung Manager Umar Bawi told AntaranewsKalsel on Friday (22/9) the test match with the Portuguese team was to keep fitness and monitor the mental and physical readiness and stamina of the team after a long trip from Indonesia to the United States.

"Wednesday (20/9) night the team arrived in New York, and in order to maintain the readiness, Thursday (21/9) we immediately conducted a test match to see their readiness," he said.

Accompanied by coach Otsuka Koichi and assistant coach Safrudin, SSB Batu Agung finally defeated the Portuguese team with a score of 6-2.

Success in Portugal, now Otsuka Koichi aiming Algeria as the next candidate opponent in the test match.

"We are not only against teams from different countries, but we are also fighting the weather and temperature in the United States which is quite different from the Indonesian and our players should get used to the food," said Umar Bawi.

Therefore, he continued, the coach will continue to boost the stamina and cohesiveness of the team by conducting a trials match against several club participants of DNC 2017 at Red Bull Arena, New York.

The Indonesian team itself is grouped together with England, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
