Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Transportation Agency will soon realize the construction of a mass transit (MRT) project that will connect several districts and cities incorporated in Banjarbakula.

Head of the agency Rusdiansyah after the commemoration of the 2017 National Transportation Day in Banjarmasin on Monday said that in 2018 it will start to build a corridor connecting Banjarmasin - Banjarbaru and Martapura.

Construction of the bus stop, he added, is planned to begin in 2018 to be completed in 2019 or along with the completion of the Syamsudin Noor Airport expansion.

Thus, he added, in 2019, South Kalimantan people can enjoy mass transportation which will facilitate access to Syamsuddin Noor Airport in Banjarbaru.

"In the initial stage we propose 40 minibusses enough for two corridors," he said.

Under the initial plan, the government will build five corridors with the fleet support of about 58 units, which will operate in five districts and cities, namely Banjarmasin, Banjarbaru, Martapura, Pelaihari and Marabahan or called Banjarbakula.

Realizing the program, he added, each district and city have prepared it, including the preparation of local regulations, especially Banjarmasin.

Banjarmasin City Government has made a spatial law and improvements overland transportation up to 20 years into the future.

Regarding the improvement and utilization of the 17-kilometer regional terminal, Rusdiansyah revealed that the project is the authority of the central government. Nevertheless, it still helps to guard and resolve the various problems caused when asked by the center.
