The Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) in South Kalimantan showed its concern for various public complaints by holding a meeting with relevant partners to discuss transportation and internet outages, which have been a problem in recent days.

Chairman of Commission II Abu Suwandi said this working meeting was the DPRD's rapid response to public aspirations and complaints received through various channels.

"We summoned the relevant parties so that the issues raised by the public, including air transportation, sea transportation, and internet services, can be discussed openly and solutions can be found together," he emphasized.

The issues that have been frequently complained about by the public include high prices of airfare, sea transportation, and internet service disruptions in several areas.

The commission member H Abdul Kadir pointed out that improving the quality of public services is a shared responsibility between the local government, the DPRD, and the private sector.

“We hope that the results of this meeting will have a real impact on the public, especially in term of transportation affordibility and quality of communication services,” he said.

Head of the Kotabaru Transportation Office Khairian Anshari expounded that airline ticket price is one of the main factors that effecting public mobility. 

If it can be reduced below IDR1 milion, he believes, 60 to 65 percent of the public will afford and interested in using air transportation

"At least 60 to 65 percent of the public could enjoy flying if ticket prices are below IDR 1 million. So, we hope for support from the DPRD and airlines to pursue more affordable pricing policies," he asked.

Responding to this, Lion Group Manager Muhammad Fitryan stated that the airline is, in principle, ready to coordinate and support the efforts of the regional government and DPRD, as long as they adhere to operational aspects and applicable regulations.

"We are open to discussions and finding the best solutions so that flight services to Kotabaru continue to operate optimally and remain accessible to the public," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Kotabaru Communication and Informatic Office Gusti Abdul Wakhid appreciated DPRD the legislative council, which nont only focus on transportation, but also responded to people's complaints about internet service disruptions.

"We would like to thank the Kotabaru DPRD for their quickaction in addressing public complaints, including internet service. The DPRD has even summoned relevant parties to ensure this issue can be addressed promptly," he said.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chair of Commission II HM Suhartono, Secretary of Commission II Mustakim, and DPRD members Hj Rosidah and Junaidi, who provided input and insights for improving public services in the future.
