A number of schools in Kotabaru, from kindergarten (TK) to senior high school (SMA), have won Adiwiyata awards 2025 from the Ministry of Environment and the South Kalimantan Environment Agency (DLH) for consistently preserve environmental culture in their educational settings.
Head of the Kotabaru DLH Melinda Ratna Agustina said the green school awards were received thank to the support and commitment of the local government to transforming all schools into enviromentally conscious education centers in line with Kotabaru Hebat (which stands for harmonious, energic, united, trustworthy, and resilient) vision.
"Today Kotabaru District receive the most Adiwiyata awards in South Kalimantan, and this is all thanks to the support of Regent, Deputy Regent and Regional secretary in realizing Kotabaru Hebat," he explained.
The Environment Agency, she continued, also continues to provide guidance to schools to become environmentally conscious and promoting awareness and knowledge among school residents in environmental conservation efforts.

Seven schools received the provincial Adiwiyata School award, they were Sabilillul Muttaqin Kindergarten (TK) and elementary school SDN 2 Tarjun from the Pulau Laut Tengah Subdistrict; senior high school SMAN 1 Pulau Laut Tengah, junior high school SMPN 1 Kotabaru, SMPN 2 Kotabaru, Islamic junior high school MTsN Kotabaru, and SMPN 2 Pulau Laut Timur.
Four schools received the Independent Adiwiyata School award from the Ministry of Environment in Jakarta were SMAN 1 Pulau Laut Timur, SMKN 1 Kotabaru, high vocational school SMKN 2 Kotabaru, and Indocement Tarjun Junior High School (SMPS).
The Independent Adiwiyata schools that received recognition from the Provincial Environment Agency (DLH) were SMAN 1 Pulau Laut Timur, SMKN 1 Kotabaru, SMKN 2 Kotabaru, and SMPS Indocement Tarjun.
The provincial level Adiwiyata schools that received additional appreciation, in addition to certificates and plaques, also Rp3,000,000 funds, were Sabilillul Muttaqin Kindergarten and SMAN 1 Pulau Laut Tengah.
