Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 28/8 (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Police Chief (Kapolda) Brig.Gen. Rachmat Mulyana asked the bank to increase the security system on Automated Teller Machine (ATM), following the rampant of ATM burglary with a variety of modes.


"This case should be followed up further, we will call the banks operating in South Kalimantan," Rachmat said here on Monday.

The Kapolda told reporters during the expose of suspects and evidence of plotters of ATM burglary in South Kalimantan Regional Police headquarters.

According to Rachmat, in addition to improving the security system at ATM, he also hopes that all CCTV or surveillance cameras in the ATM machine can be connected with the police or the local police station.

It is intended that every crime that happens can be immediately known and the police quickly move to catch the perpetrator.

The criminal gang with the mode of spragging the mouth hole of ATM machine with a toothpick were caught. They were Heprigus Kurniawan (34), Iwan Palestra (29), and Ahmad Gafuri (45).

The suspects came from Jambi Province were arrested by South Kalimantan's mobile detective (Resmob) unit police together with Banjar crime detective in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Tuesday (22/8). All three were shot in both legs for trying to escape when caught.

This plotters acted in various locations in South Kalimantan before escaping to East Kalimantan. One of which as reported by the Gambut police, on August 10, 2017 that Rp65 million was stolen from ATM machine at Gambut fuel station.

"With the uncover of the modus operandi by spragging ATM mouth hole we expect people to be more cautious, if someone offers assistance must suspect and certainly first check the card hole before transaction," said Director of General Crime (Dirreskrimum) Police Sr Comr Sofyan Hidayat accompanied by Chief of Crime with Violence Unit (Jatanras) AKBP Afebrianto Widhi Nugroho added.
