Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Eleven buildings burnt down in a fire that occurred in Balangan district, South Kalimantan, on Saturday.

"The fire occurred in the jurisdiction of Juai police right in the village of Mungkur Uyam, Sub-district of Juai, Saturday (24/6)," Head of Crime Investigtion Police Adj Comr (AKP) Dany Sulistiono SE in Paringin.

Dany quoted witness Wahyu (22), whose house is right in front of the fire location, that the fire came from behind the kitchen of Mujillah's house aka Grandma Akbar.

The fire then enlarges until it spreads to the right and left of the house. The witness called the neighbors to inform the fire.

The fire was extinguished about one hour at 02:30 pm by rows of firefighters, namely of the Sub-district of Juai, Sub-district of Halong, Paringin and one fire car from Tabalong.

"Until the fire put out it was recorded 11 buildings burnt down, namely eight houses inhabited by 12 families, one kiosk also burnt down, and two houses partially burned," said Dany.

The Balangan police are still investigating the cause of the fire, which is estimated to cost up to Rp1.5 billion.

"On the occurrence of the fire, we again remind people to always be vigilant and always check the electrical equipment and gas stove before going to bed and before traveling," said Dany.
