Banjarmasin dominate business in South Kalimantan

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The city of Banjarmasin dominates the number of businesses in South Kalimantan according to data compiled by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) through the Economic Census in 2016.

Head of BPS South Kalimantan Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Wednesday said the number of businesses in the capital of South Kalimantan was recorded as many as 89,751 or 19.01 percent of all businesses in South Kalimantan.

"Almost all categories of business fields or companies dominated by Banjarmasin, while the rest are spread with varying amounts in 12 districts and cities in the province," she said.

She specified business field in Banjarmasin amounts to 89,751 consisting of 87,666 micro small business (UMK) and as much as 2,085 medium enterprises (UMB).

The number of construction business in Banjarmasin reached 2,317 or 28.42 percent, wholesale and retail trade 40,714 businesses or 17.82 percent.

The category of transportation and warehousing business in Banjarmasin has reached 5,755 businesses or 29.32 percent and the business of providing accommodation and eat and drinking 17,607 businesses.

"Real estate, communication information, and education business in Banjarmasin also dominate compared to other cities in South Kalimantan," he said.

Meanwhile, the second highest rank of business field in South Kalimantan is Banjar District with 66,544 businesses. Construction business reached 1,299 or 15.93 percent followed by large and retail trade 30.669 or 13.42 percent.

2.797 business of transportation and warehousing or 14.25 percent, 10,478 or 12.57 percent of the business of providing accommodation and 1,355 real estate businesses.
