Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City in South Kalimantan Province is preparing to host the third Indonesian River Congress (KSI III) scheduled for 22-26 September 2017.


In a preparatory meeting led by Assistant II of Banjarmasin City Secretary Drs Hamdi in City Hall Friday, it was revealed that the selection of Banjarmasin as the host was the result of the agreement of KSI II in Selorejo Ngantang, Malang, 2016 ago.

According to Hamdi, who was accompanied by Head of Public Works Gt Ridwan Sofyani, the chosen of Banjarmasin should be grateful for Banjarmasin is a river city. Many benefits can be picked as a host, so it must be a success as a national scale activities.

In order to succeed in the event, a preparatory meeting was held that invited not only the related institutions of the municipal governmet, but also academics, humanists, especially the communities.

Many of the issues to be addressed in this activity are primarily related to rivers in the country that are now experiencing pollution, siltation, and ecosystem degradation problems. Almost the entire river turns into a waste container or a place to remove various dirt.

Actually naturally rivers have the ability to neutralize waste in river bodies, but because of the volume of waste uncontrollable, the natural phase of this neutralization becomes severe and no longer functioning.

Therefore, through the river congress with title "river as the center of civilization," is expected to have input thoughts and compile the design of life and prosperity together.

New innovations in the culture of the river with all sorts of approaches that ultimately is the harmony of life between people and rivers who live side by side.

The five days KSI is expected to be attended by at least 400 participants nationwide. Even the experience in KSI II reached 2000 people, presenting the President of the Republic of Indonesia, and four ministers.
