Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 19/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Onion from China and New Zealand entered in the local traditional markets in Banjarmasin, said a Banjarmasin Trade and Industry Agency (Disperindag) official.


According to the Head of Reenforcement and Development of the agency Gatot Harianto here on Friday, the onions from abroad are officially circulated in Banjarmasin to meet the demand of consumers ahead of Ramadan.

He said spice from China is garlic, while the one from New Zealand is yellow onion.

"The garlic price is around Rp50 thousand per kilogram, while yeloow onions is below Rp20 thousand per kilogram," he said.

According to him, the price of these two do not increase this temporary, while stock quite is a lot as the agency observed in the traditional market.

Meanwhile, the price of red onion was observed for several days actually decreased, as in Antasari Sentra Market which was initially Rp25 thousand per kilogram now become Rp22 thousand.

"From the info of traders, the onion is from Bima and Sulawesi. The stock is expected to be more a lot, because Brebes (onion producer) to enter the harvest season next month," said Gatot.
