Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 14/5 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Artificial Insemination Center (BIB) has succeeded in producing 117,901 doses of frozen semen for artificial insemination program to support national livestock breeding.


Head of BIB South Kalimantan drh Suparmi in Banjarmasin on Sunday said the frozen semen production is one of the national flagship production produced by the center he leads, in addition to several other products.

He said, the production, has now implemented ISO 9001: 2008 management system, so that the cement product has SNI certified to support the development of livestock sector through artificial insemination program.

Semen is derived from a superior male, used for artificial insemination, so that cow's frozen semen is a cement derived from a selected cow's stud, which is diluted according to the procedure and frozen at a temperature of minus 196 degrees Celsius.

Currently, he said, BIB Banjarbaru has been able to produce such frozen semen, and sell them through e-Katolog quality and the results have been recognized by national.

Other products from BIB South Kalimantan are frozen male sexing cement and female sexing, which have applied e-catalog in the sale of frozen semen, so that the product has been sold outside South Kalimantan.

According to him, South Kalimantan should be proud to be one of the three regions in Indonesia appointed as a provider of frozen cement livestock to support the Upsus Siwab (program to boost national cattle herd through artificial insemination) in the provision of cattle and buffalo frozen semen.

"Our production and breakthroughs were also presented at the Farmers and Fishermen Community (KTNA) exhibition show at the 2017 Farmers and Fishermen National Week (Penas) in Aceh on May 6-11," he said.
