Rantau, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Hiyung chili farmers in the Hiyung Village, Central Tapin, began to develop processed product of the hottest chili in forms of chili sauce (sambal) and shredded (abon).


Met in the Karya Baru Farmers Group production house , HM Khairani explained that the group began to produce processed product in the form of chilli sauce and shredded since mid-2016.

"We start the production in the last October 2016," he said, yesterday (10/4).

He said the production of chili sauce came from the fall in prices at the time. It made some farmers lose and even let the chili rotted on the trees. He and other farmers took the initiative to make processed chili in order to avoid greater losses.

"Initially we tried to make the product manually using a blender," he said.

After seeing the market developments, he and members of the Karya Baru proposed aid for a grinding machine to facilitate and improve production.

"For machine making shredded we got from Astra Group, while grinding machines for chili sauce maker was from assistance of the Tapin Agriculture Agency," said Khairani.

With this aid, the production of the processed products was growing, even within a single day they could produce 150 bottles of chili sauce and shredded.

"We made three variants of product, namely the original, shrimp, and onion," he said.

The marketing of the hottest chili processed product still around South Kalimantan, but he acknowledged they sold well in the market, even he and his group were overwhelmed with demand from consumers.

"We sell the product at a price of Rp20 thousand for each, and thank God enough they sell well in the market," said Khairani again.
