The South Kalimantan Provincial Government is currently developing fisheries commodities as its priority program in 2025 to support and make the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program a success.
“In 2025, we focus on developing fisheries commodities such as snakehead fish, crab, and climbing gourami (locally known as papuyu),” said Head of South Kalimantan Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office Rusdi Hartono in Banjarbaru, Saturday.
He said focus on developing several types of local freshwater fish to be followed up with fish eating campaign, so that the MBG program in the province runs optimally.
“Developing fisheries commodities is one of strategic programs we will implement in 2025,” he said.

Other strategic programs of the office are marine, coastal and small islands management, as well as catch fisheries, aquaculture management, and supervision of marine and fisheries resources, as well as processing and marketing of fish products.
He said, the signing of integrity act and work agreement for all employess within the South Kalimantan Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office have been conducted as an important part so that all priority programs could be more targeted, especially the focus on fisheries commodity developing program to support President Prabowo Subianto's priority program, MBG.
He emphasized that all employees within the office to be committed to carry out what have been plannned, so that the programs can run optimally.
MBG program was launched simultaneously in several Indonesian regions. It is targeting to cover 19.47 million beneficiaries in 2025, including toddlers, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and school students.
MBG is a top-priority program of the Prabowo-Gibran government. It will provide beneficiaries with nutritious food and milk, including other nutritional fulfillment assistance.
