The government of Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan Province, is pursuing inter-island connectivity in "Bumi Saijaan" (Kotabaru's nickname) and surrounding areas.

Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar emphasized the importance of pier development to support the connectivity program, especially the new route from Stagen Kotabaru Harbor to Barru, South Sulawesi.

"This route will be the main driver in strengthening economic and social relation across regions," said the Regent on commemoration of National Transportation Day or Hub fest 2024 in Kotabaru, Wednesday (Dec 18, 2024).

The pier is said to be the symbol of connection between regions and part of efforts to expedite development in Kotabaru.

On this occasion, Kotabaru Regent handed over appreciations, including to figures who care about tansportation safety.

The Kotabaru-Barru Cross Decree was also handed over by Director of Road Transportation Facility of the Transportation Ministry Amirulloh.

Head of Kotabaru Transportation Agency Khairian Ansyari expounded that this year's Hub fest 2024 theme reflects the regional government's commitment to advancing transportation sector to support better inter-island connectivity.

"This event is nut just entertainment but a form of reflection and appreciation of transportation role in developing a more advanced Indonesia," he said.

“Finally, with the support of the Kotabaru government and the Transportation Ministry, at the end of term of office of Regent H Sayed Jafar, the Maradapan Port will be built in Pulau Sembilan,” he said.
