The government of Hulu Sungai Tengah District (Pemkab HST), South Kalimantan, is mitigating flood in eight sub-districts which are categorized as prone to flood disaster ahead of the peak of rainy season.
Head of HST Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Ahmad Apandi here on Wednesday said that the local government had taken various steps to anticipate disasters.
“We have mapped disaster-prone areas, there are eight sub-districts prone to floodings, light, moderate, and high flood during rainy season,” he said.
Ahmad expounded that flood-prone areas mapping was based on the current condition and BMKG's weather forecast which predicted that the rainy season in most part of Indonesia occurs in November 2024-February 2025, and peak in December 2025.

“After the mapping, we provide socialization and education to the community in order to conduct mitigation in preparation for entering the peak of rainy season,” he said.
He mentioned the eight sub-districts prone to flooding are Batang Alai Selatan (Birayang Village and Paya Village), Batang Alai Utara (Sumanggi, Ilung, Telang, Muara Rintis, Ilung Pasar Lama villages), Hantakan (Murung B, Hantakan, Alat, Kindingan, Batu Tunggal, Pasting, Bulayak, Tilahan, Haruyan Dayak, Hinas Kanan, Datar Ajab, Patikalaian, Papagaran villages).
Then, Haruyan Sub-ditrict (Pengambau Hilir Dalam, Lok Buntar, Pengambau Hilir Luar, Panggung, Barikin, Andang, Haruyan, Haruyan Seberang, Mangunang, Mangunang Seberang, Pandanu, Teluk Masjid villages).
Also Labuan Amas Selatan Sub-district (Mahang Baru, Mundar, Sungai Jaranih, Tabudarat Hulu, Murung Taal, Durian Gantang, Panggang Marak, Jamil, Batang Bahalang villages), Labuan Amas Utara Sub-district (Perumahan, Banua Kupang, Rantau Kaminting, Samhurang, Pahalatan, Mantaas, Sungai Buluh, Kadundung, Tabat, Binjai Pirua villages).
Including Limpasu Sub-district (Karatungan Village), and Pandawan Sub-district (Banua Hanyar, Palajau, Banua Batung, Jatuh, Mahang Matang Landung, Kayu Rabah, Setiap, Kambat Utara, Mahang Putat, Mahang Sungai Hanyar, Hilir Banua, Jaranih, Masiraan villages).
