Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru Government cooperating with the military developed a corn plant to support food security in the district.

"Corn crop development is in cooperation with the District Military Command (Kodim) 1004 Kotabaru and a number of farmers' groups in the Sungup Kanan village, Central Pulaulaut," said Vice Regent Burhanuddin in Kotabaru Sunday.

"Local government highly appreciates the program initiated by Kodim 1004 and is ready to support in realizing development and food self-sufficiency in Kotabaru," he said.

Kodim 1004 Kotabaru Commander Lt. Col. Arh Samujio said this activity is to help the vision and mission of the Regional Head of Kotabaru in developing better food self-sufficiency.

"Planting corn involving farmer groups Ar-Riyadh in an area of 100 hectares is the first time," said Samujio.

Meanwhile, in 2016 the Kotabaru Agriculture Agency targeting an area of 5,000 hectares to grow corn to meet the needs of local corn.
