Rantau, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Tapin government develops cows through artificial insemination program and a new breeding program called "Upsus Siwab" or mandatory breeding program to support the national program.


Regent Tapin HM Arifin Arpan here on Tuesday said in the future the district is expected to be one of the largest producers of livestock and meat in South Kalimantan.

"We will continue to seek new ways to improve the welfare of the community, not only through agriculture but also animal husbandry," he said.

Cow development through Upsus Siwab has actually been implemented one of which in the Asam Randah village, Hatungun Sub-district, and has been able to harvest calves.

"What is important at this time we try to develop the livestock sector. If it grows will we cultivate the better," said regent.

Not only in production, the government will also help farmers through better marketing system, so that the market price will not hurt them.

Also feed is now being developed by planting odot and kingres grass in the central cattle ranch of Salam Babaris, Central Tapin, Binuang, and Lokpaikat. The grass are the best, so it is expected to produce healthy calves and a meat.

Tapin District is an area that is quite aggressive to make a breakthrough in the development of the economic sector and food crops to improve the welfare its community.
