Rantau, South Kalimantan, 28/12 (Antara) - The government of Tapin District, South Kalimantan, planting some kinds of rare trees on the green open space (RTH) as one of the efforts to save the plant that is now increasingly hard to find.


Regent Tapin HM Arifin Arpan here Wednesday said that planting in addition to efforts to preserve rare trees also to beautify Rantau, the capital of Tapin, to be cool and green.

"We want the green space is not only as a place to relax and tour, but also as a place of preservation of rare trees," regent said.

According to the former speaker of the legislative council in the 2009-2014 period, rare trees among others obtained from Pipitak Jaya area.

"As there is construction of a dam in the Pipitak Jaya Piani village, so we take the trees from there. Better than cut taken to be replanted in the green space and urban forest," he said.

In addition to the RTH, rare trees will also be planted and preserved in ecotourism conservation of proboscis monkeys in the Lokbuntar village.

Some trees taken from the area of ​​the Pipitak Jaya megaproject had already grown by lush in urban forest and ecotourism Lokbuntar such as ironwood tree, sandalwood, amber, meranti, and other rare trees.

In addition to rare trees, the government will also equip the planting of the trees which have economics value, such as jengkol trees, banana, and others.
