Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 13/12 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Kotabaru Forestry Agency (DFS) during 2016 held six forest security operation that resulted in the seizure of about 20 cubic meters illegal ironwood.

"The dozens of cubic meters of illegal ironwood were allegedly of illegal logging in production forest areas, especially in the Central Pulau Laut and Hampang Sub-district," said the Head of Security Forest of the agency Rudiono Herlambang here, Tuesday.

During the security operation, officers focus on evidence in Ironwood. The reason was, when officers confiscated a mixture of wood waste, including types of decay quickly wood, the agency does not have a comprehensive warehouse to accommodate the evidence.

"In addition, the mixed waste timber has minimal demand in auction," he explained.

Besides no man's ironwood, said Herlambang, it also secured other evidence, namely katir or two-wheeled vehicles used to transport illegal timber, and chain saws were abandoned by their owners who fled the raid.

"Unfortunately, in the six times operation, none of the loggers are secured," he said.

According to him, officers can not carry out an investigation, because the authority transferred to the provinces after the enactment of Law No. 23 Year 2014 on Regional Government.
