Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Prices of snakehead fish or commonly known as haruan in South Kalimantan have the highest stakes affect the inflation rate in November 2016.


Head of South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Diah Utami in Banjarbaru on Thursday said the fish has the highest stake than others, such as house rent rate, wet shrimp, onions, and Papuyu fish.

"The possibility is the fish widely consumed by community during the month of November, either for special occasions or for stall menus, triggering high inflation," she said.

She said inflation in South Kalimantan which is a combination of Banjarmasin and Tanjung, Tabalong district capital, about 300 kilometers from Banjarmasin, is 0.24 percent in November.

Diah, accompanied by the Head of Statistics and Distribution of BPS Arih Dwi Prasetyo, said that in 2016 the cumulative inflation rate of 2.71 percent and the rate of inflation "year on year" amounting to 3.99 per cent.

According to her, inflation in Banjarmasin in November by 0.11 per cent with a cumulative inflation rate of 2.83 percent and the rate of inflation "year on year" is 4.14 percent.

"Inflation amounted to 0.11 per cent comes from the increase in the consumer price index (CPI) in September amounted to 125.11 into 125.25 which took place in October," she said.

Meanwhile, commodity prices declined with the highest share of deflation such as rice, chicken, eggs, mackerel and apple.

While Tanjung experienced inflation of 1.85 percent with 1.15 percent cumulative inflation rate and the rate of inflation "year to year" amounted to 2.05 percent.
