Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent Tabalong Anang Syakhfiani targeting the district capital Tanjung become the metropolis of the province, given its strategic position as a transit city.
"Efforts continue to be made by the district government to realize Tanjung as city center in South Kalimantan, as Tabalong bordering the Central and East Kalimantan," said Anang in Tanjung, Wednesday.
Anang was speaking during a meeting with the Non Governmental Organization (NGO) who are members of the Tabalong Coordination Forum and local NGOs Alliance.
He insisted urban infrastructure and facilities can be built on `Earth Saraba Kawa` (nickname for Tabalong) such as shopping centers, air and land transportation.
Even Warukin Airport in the Sub-district of Murung Pudak will return to service for Tabalong - Banjarmasin and Tabalong - Surabaya flights following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between PT Pelita Air Service, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina, with Tabalong government.
"Structuring the city has begun to do, including renovating Mabuun Mall to become a modern shopping center and build Tabalong Expo Center," said Anang.
Tabalong itself is the farthest districts in South Kalimantan, which borders with East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan and has the only air service in the region of six districts (popularly known as Banua Anam).
