Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City Government will form a sharia unit of public order agency (Satpol PP) in 2017 to enforce sharia in the region.


Head of the Banjarmasin Satpol PP Ichwan Nurkhaliq here on Wednesday said that in 2016 as many as 20 sharia Satpol PP personnel force will be recruited.

"Prerequirement to apply for sharia Satpol PP are to have a minimum education of high school and could recite Al-Qur'an," he said.

Recruitment of sharia Satpol PP, said Ichwan, has already been approved by the mayor, even the budget is already in the 2016 budget.

"Currently recruitment in the process, but we sure as soon as possible before the end of this year could be formed," he said.

He revealed the sharia forces work would be more specialized than the existing municipal Satpol PP today. They mainly deal with violations of sacrilegious in society and uphold sharia regulation plan.

"There shall be recite program for children to not wander at night. It will later be sharia force duty to conduct a raid," he said.

He said the move is necessary to take by the municipality to reduce violations of sharia, because the area was still very thick nuance and religious culture.

According to Ichwan, now Banjarmasin Satpol PP owned 105 contract staff plus about 50 civil servants, but they were overwhelmed to enforce local regulations.
