The National Alm Agency (Baznas) of Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, supported efforts to decrease stunting rate by applying a healthy pregnant mother program targeting underprivileged families.

Chairman of the district Baznas Mardani said that this is the second time the program has been conducted in the form of guiding, health checks to nutritional assistance.

"We adopted the program from the South Kalimantan Baznas as our effort to reduce stunting in Tabalong," Mardani explained at the thanksgiving and tasmiyah event for the program in Tabalong, Monday.

This year, 29 pregnant mothers from the sub-districts of Tanjung, Tanta, and Murung Pudak became the target of the program.

Baznas seek the program to target the south and north area of Tabalong.

Chairman of South Kalimantan Baznas Irhamsyah said this program was launched in 2018 and gained supports from districts and cities in the province.

"All component of society should oversee the quality growth of children properly from marriage preparation to the process of birth," said Irhamsyah.

In this thanksgiving and tasmiyah event, Tabalong Regent Anang Syakhfiani, sub-district heads and representatives of regional leadership organization were also attended.

Anang said that healthy pregnant mother program was very beneficial for the community in the regency, especially in efforts to decrease stunting rates.

Even though stunting cases in Tabalong District are the lowest in South Kalimantan Province with a prevalence of  13.85 percent, but efforts to get rid of the disease continue to be intensified.
