Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of Tabalong Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Erwan said about 121.17 hectares of land in the district in category of slums.


Erwan was speaking when exposing acceleration of slums handling policy 2015 - 2019 in communication strategies of Tabalong without slums program socialiszation.

"We are targeting Tabalong to be without slums by 2019 and there are currently 10 city-villages and two villages are categorized as slums," said Erwan in Tanjung, Wednesday.

Sub-districts and villages which are categorized as slums are Mabuun, Pembataan, Belimbing, Belimbing Raya, Hikun, Wayau Village and Kapar Village targeted in without slums acceleration program.

From a number of existing slums, Kapar Village in Murung Pudak in the higher potential, namely 20 percent, that it is in need to be upgraded into city-village.

To support the implementation of the without slum acceleration program, said Erwan, Tabalong government allocated Rp1 billion in the 2017 budget.

"The without slums program declaration will be in January 2, 2017 and I expect the participation of the community to realize this program, including support through the village fund," said Erwan.

The city without slums programs aimed at improving public access to infrastructure within their settlement according to slum indicators and strengthening the capacity of governments to develop collaboration with stakeholders.
