Bandung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan contingent until now has collected 18 medals from various sports in the National Sports Week (PON) XIX 2016 in West Java.


Vice Chairman of the KONI South Kalimantan Drs H Muhammad Wilny on Saturday said the 18 medals are six gold medals, six silvers and six bronzes.

"This amount is the total of medals we get to Friday (23/9)," he said.

With the medal tally, he added, South Kalimantan position now in 11th just below East Kalimantan who collecting more silver and bronze medals.

"They (East Kalimantan contingent) get a gold medal the same as many as South Kalimantan," he said.

The gold medals contributed four of shooting sports, the rest each one gold medal from wrestling and diving.

While six silver medals contributed three medals by shooting sports and each one medal was awarded by diving, billiards and wushu.

The bronze medals contributed by shooting sports with three medals and each one was given by diving, bodybuilding and submarines.

As is known, South Kalimantan lowered as many as 226 athletes from 36 sport branches, where the target initially to get as many as 18 gold medals.
