The Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan, held a cooordination meeting with related agencies to discuss preparation to deal with hydrometeorological disasters.

"Hydrometeorological disasters are usually caused by floods, flash flood, tornadoes, seawater tidal waves or rob, and landslides during rainy season," said Head of the local BPBD Sulhadi in Batulicin, Tuesday.

It was the reason the coordination meeting was held by the goverment involving community and other institutions to anticipate the natural disasters considering that Tanah Bumbu has entered the rainy season.

Sulhadi said the potential of hydrometeorological disasters are expected to occur in December 2023 and early January 2024.

To strengthen readiness, BPBD launched "Cewe Medsos"(which stands for call center, Website, and social media) app to optimize reception and dissemination of disaster information via social media.

"We hope this innovation will boost response through integrated disaster complaint service to one call center number," he explained.

This is also to minimize communication barriers that often experienced by community in submitting reports when disaster occurs in an area.
