Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Provincial Military Commander (Danrem) 101 Antasari Colonel Kav Yanuar Adil said the military is ready to help farmers open agriculture without having to burn the land as had happened in previous years.
"Please for farmers who want to open land to report to Babinsa (village supervisory non-commissioned officer)in each district, we will help at no charge," said Yanuar here on Tuesday.
However, he said, the aid will only be given to needy, both physically and financially that the farmers were forced to burn the land to save costs.
"If the farmers are still physically strong and have more financial ability, we will be watching. Lest they open fields by burning, legal sanctions will be tough enough," he said.
Previously, Yanuar held a press conference on Monday (29/8) related to the issuance of the Governor's Decree on the establishment of the Coordination Team Command Post for Smoke Disaster Emergency Preparedness as resulted by forest and land fires.
The post which is commanded by Danrem 101/Antasari is to follow up the government determination that South Kalimantanis is in land and forest fires emergency from 15 Agust until 15 November, 2016.
"The establishment of emergency of land and forest fires, after Tapin and Tabalong declare emergency against land and forest fires," he said.
Some steps will be taken to follow up such determination, he added, will be socialized in the meeting which will be implemented further.
Currently, he added, various preparations, are among others forming fire and land fighting sectors, namely the sector one covering the Barito Kuala up to Kotabaru district and sector two covering Tapin up till Tabalong.
Each sector, he added, will prepare about a thousand members of the joint team, ranging from the military, police, Manggala Agni (firefighter brigades) and others, who are included in the integrated team.
"The amount for the province, while each district also set up and build a command post," he said.
