Kandangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Members of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) police surrounded and tried to extinguish fires that burned land in the Paramaian village, Sub-district of Daha, through the river.


The North Daha police chief Ipda Rahmani in Kandangan on Monday said information about hotspots in Paramaian received by HSS Police from the climatology Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) station Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin.

"Based on aqua terra satellite up to date observations hotspots found in the Paramaian," he said.

HSS police immediately responded by sending a team led by KBO Sabhara Ipda Slamet Heriansyah and North Daha police chief Ipda Rahmani and BPBD (Disaster Mitigation Agency). They drove to the scene.

The team riding six kelotok or traditional motorboat to the scene. With a distance of hotspots about 10 km from North Daha Police station, the path taken was very difficult, so the trip took about an hour and a half.

"It has been found really suitable with point coordinates of fires observed by the satellite, which is in the Paramaian village and using hand spayer (solo) tools fire can be extinguished," he said.

Spacious area of 170 x 40 M2 burned belongs to Lamran, resident of Tambangan village, South Daha. Until now the cause of the fires is still under investigation.

According to the police chief, if the results of the investigation of land was deliberately burned police will take firm action and the perpetrator will be prosecuted.

The application of legal sanctions will be guided by the Law No. 32 of 2009 on the protection and management of the environment section 108 to a penalty of 10 years and a fine of Rp10 billion.

Head of South Kalimantan Forestry Agency Rakhmadi revealed, handling of forest fires are now much faster, because of good coordination and quick from the respective authorities.
