Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Floating market in Martapura River, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, remains the best when compared with Ayothaya floating marketin Bangkok, Thailand.

The assessment is delivered via FB messages to AntaranewsKalsel on Saturday by Head of Tourism Development of Banjarmasin Tourism Agency Mokhamad Khuzaimi who is now in Bangkok.

According to Banjarmasin city government official, who is on vacation with his family in the the white elephant country, Banjarmasin floating market is more intense than the Ayothaya.

"To enter the Bangkok floating market we were charged 200 baht or about Rp80 thousand, while in the Banjarmasin floating market we are free of charge," he said.

Traders in Bangkok Ayothaya floating market selling on the outskirts of the river that looks like a lake instead of a flowing river. Traders amounted nearly 300 people selling various traditional and modern food, including souvenirs.

While in Banjarmasin Tendean floating market, traders selling on the boat on the river that flows naturally, located right in the heart of the city.

The more exotic of floating market in Banjarmasin, there are about 60 klotok (a traditional river boat usually fitted with inboard or outboard motors) back and forth in the river. In Bangkok there are only three boats  although they are more architectonic in shape, he added.

Another dissimilarity, in Banjarmasin traders dominated by the women who dressed with everyday and put tanggui (traditional wide-brimmed hat made of palm leaves) on their heads, no engineering. While they sell completely natural products, such as fruits, vegetables, fish, and traditional snacks.

"The price offered far more cheaper in our place," said Khuzaimi, who also known as an industrious promote of Banjarmasin travel.

Alhough in Bangkok they have a variety of attractions such as goats eating grass and elephant attractions. If the floating market in Banjarmasin be addressed and managed in aprofessional manner, it is possible to further better than the floating market on the mainland famous producer of Asian fruits.
