Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) will hold a race of eating crackers (makan kerupuk) along 710 meters simultaneously at the embankment (siring) of Martapura River, Banjarmasin, Saturday (20/8) afternoon.


"This event is held to enliven the 71st anniversary of the Independence, so we make eating kerupuk contest extends 710 meters," said the executive committee Mayor Inf Sudjiono at City Hall, Friday.

According to the Commander (Danramil) of 01 Sub-district Military of East Banjarmasin, participants are targeted as many as 710 for every one meter there will be one participant in the race. Every ten meters will be taken of a winner for the race to the next stage.

"The plan we make eating kerupuk bit down. Every ten meters there will be committees to oversee, to each there will be a winner. That is 71 participants entered the second half, until finally the champion found," he explained.

Sudjiono revealed, the committee has prepared more than 1,000 pieces of crackers for this race. It can increase in accordance with condition later.

"The participants are general public, on-site registration only later. We expect many participating, for the sake of national independence anniversary festivities. Do not clay prize, but how can we echo the historic day for the nation," he said.

He said the committee had invited the governor and mayor and other local officials to attend, that this activity is more festive. In addition to the joy is to further tighten the silaturrahmi and also unity among the children of the nation.
