Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) prepares personnel and equipment to prevent land and forest fires in the province, so not to cause harm to people and environment.
"The personnel and equipments owned by the police were prepared. In case of forest and land fires in the district or city they could soon be deployed," said South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Brigadier General Erwin Triwanto in Banjarbaru, Thursday.
After officiated readiness of personnel and equipment in forest and land fire management on the lawn of Brimob headquarters in Banjarbaru, he said the number of personnel is prepared to reach thousands scattered in 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan which some of its territory is in emergency status of land and forest fires.
"We have instructed to all chief of resort police to monitor, control and take action against the burning of forests and lands, if done intentionally," he said.
Meanwhile, tactical vehicle of modification results will be used to extinguish fires, especially in the area of forest and land.
"Tactical vehicle used a modified, such as four wheel drive cars which can carry one water tank, so as to be directed to a location that is difficult," he said.
He said no specific budget for helping to prevent forest and land fires, but it use a contingency budget belongs to the police which is quite limited.
Meanwhile, police officers also are trained to be able to use fire-fighting equipment to be quickly and precisely to extinguish the flames. "We will train police personnel briefly to master each appliance and firefighting vehicles, so they can move quickly in putting out the fire," he said.
