Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan Antaranews) - A total of 189 South Kalimantan's mainstay athletes has been in the stage of centralization until 9 September 2016 to gain achievements in National Games (PON) XIX West Java.
General Secretary of the South Kalimantan National Sports Council (KONI) Sarmidi here on Friday said that since June 27, 2016 the athletes has been entered a period of centralization in the Fave Hotel in Banjarmasin.
"Those who have to undergo a period of centralization are athletes who excel or won medals at yesterday's pre-PON," he explained.
According to him, there are 19 sports whose athletes undergo a period centralization in one place to receive guidance. There they are under controls, should not be wandering around except for practice.
"So the athletes were allowed out only to go to the gym, otherwise it should not be," he said.
According to him, this centralization also to establish the compactness of the athletes as well as their passion could be built for the pride of the region to excel later in the very prestigious PON.
KONI, specifically, in this case very supportive all the way to shape the spirit and achievements of the athletes, to the gold medals in 2016 PON could increase more than last year.
"In previous PON we could only won four gold medals, Now we are targeting 20 gold medals to be achieved the maximum," said Sarmidi.
