PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk will use Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) alternative fuel from waste processed at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) to process cement production in its Citeureup Factory Complex.
President Director of Indocement Christian Kartawijaya said that this cooperation is a good first step as well as a clear evidence of collaboration and synergy between private and government in overcoming Jakarta's garbage problems and hopes this collaboration will help reducing the amount of garbage buried at the Bantargebang TPST.
“Hopefully cooperation between Indocement and the Jakarta Provincial Government could be an example of best practice cooperation in handling waste between private (cement factory) and regional government,” he noted in a press statement receieved here, Tuesday.
“For Indocement, the use of alternative fuel is in line with the company's vision and mission to reduce CO2 from the use of fossil fuel (coal)," he said.

Indocement itself has used alternative fuel over 18 percent until 2022 and plans to reach more than 40 percent to replace coal by 2030.
"This collaboration is a solution for waste problems at the Bantargebang TPST which is now almost at its maximum capacity," acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi H said.
"On the behalf of the Provincial Government of Jakarta, I express my high appreciation and gratitude to cement industry that is willing to work together to become an offtaker RDF from TPST Bantargebang," he said in the statement.
Head of the Jakarta Environment Office Asep Kuswanto saidthat landfill mining facilities and RDF Plant of Bantargebang TPST can process up to 2.000 tonnes of waste per day and complies with industry specifications.
“Waste processing is done mechanically through process of sorting, chopping, and drying, produce RDF products, which are processed solid waste in the form of flamable materials (plastic, paper, etc.) that are homogeneous in size (bulk or pellets) and can be used as alterlative fuel,” he added.
Meanwhile, PT Indocement on June 27, 2023 will receive the first shipment of about 80–100 tonnes of RDF from the Bantargebang Landfill Mining Facility and RDF Plant for its cement production process at the Citeureup Factory.
The delivery is a follow-up of an agreement of a trial providing of alternative fuel from processing waste between Indocement and the Jakarta Environment Office (DLH) Integrated Waste Management Unit(UPST) onJune 15, 2023.
