As an expression of gratitude at the age of 31 (next October), Adaro continues to be committed to realizing the independence of community surrounding the company's operation, especially in economy.

Chairwoman of Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) Okty Damayanti said that today's expression of gratitude was realized through the distribution of food packages to underprivileged families in Pangelak Village, Upau Sub-district, Tabalong District, and Hukai Village, Juai Sub-district, Balangan District, South Kalimantan.

"We are making this happen through a program to share 31,000 basic food packages which will later be distributed on three islands, namely Kalimantan, Sumatra, and Java," Okty expounded in Tanjung, Tabalong, Sunday.

"Adaro's aspirations are for villagers to be economically independent and have the skills to develop the region," said Okty.

Progress and independence can be through developing BUMDes and network to manage business with sustainable profits.

Adaro will also bring in experts from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) to assit effort to empower the community and advance the village economy through agricultural sector and other village potentials.

The ceremony for food package distribution in Pangelak and Hukai was also attended by Operational Director of PT Adaro Indonesia Wahyu Sulistiyo, Chief Operation of PT SIS ADMO Eko Iswanto, CEO of Rumah Zakat Irvan Nugraha, and other Adaro officials.

Operational Director Wahyu Sulistiyo said Adaro continues to be comitted to preparing community self-reliance through various program of CSR as well as guidance and assistance by YABN.

"Thank you for the community's support for Adaro, which is now 31 years old and today can realize one of our goals of sharing basic food for underprivileged families," said Wahyu.

Simbolically the food packages were handed over to three residents of Pangelak Village, namely Kurnisan (56), Jamilah (43) and Suwarno (55) at the hall of the village in Upau sub-district.

Head of Pangelak Village Hariadinata expressed his appreciation for the program of sharing food packages by Adaro's extended family.

"Adaro's contribution to the people of Pangelak Village is quite extraordinary and we hope that Adaro will bemore successful so it can continue to help the community," said Heriadinata.

As many as 167 basic food packages were distributed in Pangelak Village and one of its contents was pangasius frozen fish produced by Mifahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Bangkiling Raya Village, Tabalong, which is one of Islamic boarding schools assisted by Adaro.
