Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Sayed Jafar encourages excellent health services to the community.

He made his remarks when he officiated the Pantai Community Health Center (puskesmas) which serves outpatient and inpatient care for people of 11 villages.

"This is a form of local government effort in terms of health services to the community," Sayed Jafar said in Pantai Village on Monday.

According to him, with the construction of a new, wider building, it will be able to serve patients with more excellent service with better supporting facilities.

The health center will serve the villeges of Pantai, Sei Nipah, Tapaling, Sangking Baru, Sei Kupang Jaya, Suka Maju, Pantai Baru, Bumi Asih, Pembelacanan, Tanjung Pangga, and Tanjung Dewa Village.

"To the ranks of the puskesmas to always serve patients well, and be able to solve public health problems," he insisted.

Sayed Jafar asked health workers here to improve performance with high discipline, improve teamwork and cross-sectoral cooperation and involve the private sector to serve each other in terms of health.

The acting Head of Pantai Health Center, Edy Rahmanto, said the newly inaugurated health center was an improvement from the old health center.

"The improvement is that the health center can now serve inpatients for up to seven patients," said Edy.

He also revealed that the puskesmas is equipped with complete blood laboratory tests and blood chemistry and ultrasonography (USG) services, with a medical staff of 14 midwives, 9 nurses, 1 dentist, 1 general practitioner, and other health workers.
