Banjarbaru City recorded the highest Human Development Index  or IPM in 2022 by being ranked first out 13 cities and districts in South Kalimantan based on the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) assessment.

Mayor M Aditya Mufti Ariffin expressed his gratitude for the highest HDI which proves the city's higher quality of life compared to other regions in the province.

"We are grateful for being 0the first rank of HDI in South Kalimantan. This cannot be separated from the economic growth of Banjarbaru throughout 2022 which is getting better," Aditya remarked here on Saturday.
 
Based on BPS records, Aditya said, the South Kalimantan capital city's HDI in 2022 was scored 79.68 or the highest compared to other cities and districts.
 
BPS assessment that using the latest method shows that the city's HDI has increased compared to the previous two years, namely 79.10 in 2020 and 79.26 in 2021.
 
Meanwhile, the second highest HDI recorded by Banjarmasin City with a score of 77.97 followed by Tabalong District with a score of 73.13.
 
Under the leadership of Mayor M Aditya Mufti Ariffin, the HDI forming components were boosted from life expectancy.
 
"The increase in life expectancy can be seen from newborns having a high chance of survival at 72.36 an increase from 72.10 in 2021," he pointed out.
 
The increase in life expectancy shows that the community health degree is getting better and this component continues to be improved by preparing better health facilities and services.

Other two components, namely knowledge and standard of living deserve were the focus of the city government's attention.
 
"We continue to push for the quality of education as well as accelerating economic growth and we believe all can be carried out with the collaboration of the government, the private, and the community," said Aditya.
 
The HDI forming sectors continue to be encouraged from the program of independent neighborhood units (RT mandiri) which has created business fields for the community, and providing religious scholarships for students abroad.
 
Then, the municipal government's homecare program which has served thousands of residents door to door with health services.
