Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The bad air quality in the city of Banjarmasin happened to the residential areas, with pollution of the dust contained above the threshold.


"We must acknowledge the quality of air in our region is worsening, even while in the house not lost of danger exposed to respiratory disease," said Head of the Banjarmasin Environment Agency (BLHD) Hamdi, Friday.

According to him, community must be aware of the air pollution with content of fine dust exceeded the quality standard of 230 ppm.

"According to our analysis the dust content in the air now reaches 500 ppm (and polluting the air) to the settlements," he warned.

Therefore, people are asked to be careful, and they are recommended to wear masks at all times, even at home, especially if outdoors, for example on the street.

"When we are on the road, not only dust, but also smoke from vehicles is quite high pollution," said Hamdi.

Even today can be seen, he said, in every place of health facilities, especially in the community health centers (puskesmas), the highest disease attacked Banjarmasin residents are respiratory infection.

While BLHD, said Hamdi, continue to conduct intensive monitoring and measurement of air quality in a number of points, not just on the highway, but also at residential areas.

"Understandably, we have solid activity area, the main traffic flow of vehicles uninterruptedly, until fairly dense smoke and dust scattered in the air," he said.
