Batulicin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Marine and Fisheries Agency (DKP) planting 43,000 mangrove seedlings in the village of Muara Pagatan, Sub-district of Kusan Hilir, Tanah Bumbu.


Head of Marine Management and Development of Coastal and Small Islands of South Kalimantan Marine and Fisheries Agency Muhammad Saleh in Batulicin on Friday said the purpose of planting mangrove seedlings is to prevent coastal erosion.

"In addition to preventing erosion caused by sea waves, it is a place for breeding marine life, such as mangrove crabs, fish, shrimp, and other organisms," he said.

According to him, with the increasing growth and development of mangrove trees in the future will potentially be a tourist area of ​​mangrove, thereby increasing the income of local communities.

The existence of mangrove forests in the coastal area is very important in keeping the coastline in order to remain stable, so that the population of trees and shrubs to protect the shore from the brunt of the waves directly to potentially damaging the shoreline.

In addition to implementing mangrove planting, DKP gave a training to manufacture mangroves based drinks for local communities by involving fisheries counselor, and sources from the University of Lambung Mangkurat and community leaders.
