Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The state owned electricity company PT PLN Region South and Central Kalimantan is now adding electrical power to meet energy needs in the two provinces as much as 270 MW.

Plant Manager of PT PLN for South and Central Kalimantan Idaman Lingga here on Tuesday told reporters the addition of power comes from Pulang Pisau power plant with a capacity of 120 MW and of Mangkanai Power Plant 150 MW, both in Central Kalimantan.

The two plants have been completed and based on the schedule in October 2015 had to be operated. This means that the electrical power have entered the system serves the needs of the South and Central Kalimantan, but it turns out there are obstacles.

Power transmission cables between Mangkanai to Muara Teweh has been completed, then between Muara Teweh to Buntok. But in this region there is a location that has not been connected to the transmission because it passing land owned by local resident and there has been no agreement on compensation.

"Under the rules, the land affected by the transmission line will be compensated only about Rp30 million, but the landowners have asked many folds to reach Rp500 million," he said.

With the value ofcourse PLN can not pay it, because PLN will also be audited in accordance with such rules, and could be accused to enrich others.

Therefore, PLN hopes the government of South Barito, Central Kalimantan, could assist in dealing with disagreements about compensation of this land to facilitate the land owners to release the land to be used for connecting the transmission cable.

While Pulang Pisau power plant, as it is newly built, the condition is not yet stable. Of the 120 MW planned only a portion of the power that can be distributed, he said.

Idaman said PLN by about 400 plants has ability today to provide about 500 MW. However for maintenance at the Asam-asam steam-fueled power plant and due to damage at privately owned power plants purchased by PT PLN, cause deficit of around 100 MW of power resulting in outages in these two areas.
