Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 14 South Kalimantan wrestling athletes who won medals in Pre-PON will undergo try-out to Romania and three other countries in Eastern Europe in May for the preparation to compete in 19th National Games (PON) in West Java.


"14 wrestling athletes of our region will try out abroad, the destination is Romania, Maldova, Georgea, and Bulgaria," said Vice Chairman of the South Kalimantan branch of National Sports Committee (KONI) Mohammad Welny, Sunday.

The 14 athletes, he said, are expected to gain knowledge in the four countries that could be called the wrestling orientation, because they targeted a triple gold medal in 19th PON, which will take place on September 17 to 21, 2016.

"The wrestling team is the mainstay of our area for panning for gold later, so preparation is done very maximum," explains Welny.

In fact, he said, the plan is wrestling team will be directly handled by coach from Romania.

"After the try out, along with South Kalimantan Wrestling team will join the coach from Romania to Banjarmasin. From then until PON the Romanian coach handling our wrestling team," said Welny.

Welny acknowledged, foreign coach from Romanian is agsin become PGSI South Kalimantan choice. Previously, the province wrestling team also coached by Romanian coach in 18th PON in Riau in 2012.
