Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - North Banjarmasin Criminal Investigation Unit arrested five motor vehicles thieves, two of them are still minors.


"About 15 motorcycles have secured from the perpetrators," said North Banjarmasin Deputy Police Chief AKBP Wahyu Dwi Ariwibowo Sik here on Monday.

The success to uncover motorcycle theft was not separated from the activities of police officer assigned to a village as an advisor on security and public order (Bhabinkamtibmas) in North Banjarmasin.

Initially there was information from Bhabinkamtibmas and the public on the rampant theft of a motorcycle. Police then followed up with an investigation.

On Thursday (4/2) morning at around 02.00, Police carried out raid in the area of North Banjarmasin. Then, police found perpetrator with initial MN (16) driving a stolen motorcycle at Jalan Malkon Temon, Sultan Adam.

The police immediately asked his documents. It turned MN could not showed them. He was immediately interrogated and confessed the motorcycle was the proceeds of crime with his friends.

For 24 hours police developing the case of MN, till successfully arrested W (22), then S (23), AA (14) and A (18). All the actors were Banjarmasin residents.

Not only caught the perpetrators. Police also secured the evidence of up to 15 motorcycles from results of their crime starting January 2016 up to now.

"The perpetrators were a motorcycle theft syndicate and they all new players eyeing each motorcycle handlebar does not use keys taken and pushed," he said when the case expose, while North Banjarmasin Police Chief AKP Andik Eko SH Sik beside him.

Meanwhile MN (16) admitted that he stole a motorcycle with his friends and sale it in the Martapura area for Rp2 million.
