Head of Tapin Agriculture  Office in South Kalimantan, Wagimin, stated that no cattle are indicated with foot and mouth disease (FMD) in the district. 

"After going through inspection, (we found that) cattle in Tapin are safe from FMD," he said here on Thursday, (May 26, 2022). 

In the last two days, a careful examination have been completed at 42 cowhouses by the team of veterinaries and TNI-Polri, and Wagimin ensured that no cows were infected or indicated with FMD. 

"Alhamdulillah, there is no indication. The Regent asked to always alert if there are cows coming from outside the district," he said. 

Here are the symptoms of FMD in cattle: high fever (39-41 degree Celcius), heversalivation, sore in the mouth, blisters on the gums and tongue, also between toes, above hooves and nipple, excessive salivation, reduced appetite and weakness or lameness. 

If farmers find these symptoms, they should immediately report to the nearest livestock technical officer to get a quick treatment by animal health field officers of the Tapin Agriculture Office.
