Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Secretary of the Tabalong National Sport Council (KONI) Rahmanuddin said the district government provided financial support Rp3 billion to prepare local athletes to compete in Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) X.
"As the host of Porprov X held here in 2017, Tabalong prepares its athletes to be able to participate in 33 sports that will be contested," said Rahmanuddin in Tanjung on Monday.
Until now, local KONI still having trouble finding athletes for some sports, including rowing and wrestling, given the many athletes who had moved to other regions for work and college.
In addition to preparing hundreds of athletes to compete in Porprov X, KONI together with Tabalong government have allocated around Rp7 billion for the rehabilitation of a number of sports facilities, including building a martial hermitage.
"Some of facilitieswhich we rehab among are basketball courts, rowing means, volleyball, sepak takraw, shooting and martial hermitage manufacture," added Rahmanuddin.
Meanwhile, the committees of 13 sports period 2015-2019 inaugurated simultaneously in Saraba Kawa Building, Tanjung, by the representative of KONI South Kalimantan Firdaus.
The formation of this committee as preparation for the district to host South Kalimantan Porprov X, because some sports such as lion dance also newly formed.
