The Regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, H M Zairullah Azhar inaugurated a packing house as a center for people's craft industry (IKM) all at once a show room for the Tanah Bumbu chapter of the National Handicraft Council (Dekranasda Tanah Bumbu).

"I appreciate the development of the packing house as an IKM center for Bumi Bersujud (Tanah Bumbu's nickname) community. It is hoped to enhance the enthusiasm of local craftsmen," said Zairullah in Batulicin, Monday.

Now, he said, that Tanah Bumbu is preparing itself as a buffer for the new national capital (IKN) of Nusantara by building infrastructure, one of which is in economic sector.

For instance, in Java Island people know batik, so in Tanah Bumbu there is a Pagatan woven cloth, the district characteristic that is promoted.

Meanwhile, Chairwoman of the Tanah Bumbu chapter of the National Handicraft Council Hj. Wahyu Windarti Zairulllah said that with the inauguration of packing house the council is ready to market MSMEs' products to outside the region.

"This is to encourage the existance of Pagatan woven cloth which is one of (our) regional icon. Later I will ask the regent to instruct SKPD (government working units) to wear cloth from pagatan weaving, including schools," she said.
