The Kotabaru DPRD's Commission I consulted with Commission I of South Kalimantan DPRD about the separation of Tanah Kambatang Lima as a new district.

A member of Kotabaru's Commission I Lutfi here said they discussed about the cost of research of the expansion. The commission will also check with the provincial Finance Agency or the South Kalimantan Board of Development Planning.

Regarding the separation of Tanah Kambatang Lima from Kotabaru District, according to the calculation of the Regional Research and Development Agency (Balitbangda), it will shrink Kotabaru.

He explained that as many as 12 sub-district would move to Tanah Kambatang Lima, thereby reducing most of the area of the parent district, Kotabaru.

"We certainly don't want this. Therefore early thingking is needed so that the worst things don't happen," he continued.

"Not just the reducing of the area, but it will impact on the income of the parent district," he explained.

He stressed that the partition area should not be larger than the parent area, which is currently consists of 22 sub-districts and 202 villages and urban villages.
