The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has produced 23 new dentists who are ready to serve the public.

"Alhamdulilah (praise be to Allah), ULM has again graduated dentists who are ready to provide health services for the community," said ULM's Deputy Rector II for General Affairs and Finance Dr Achmad Syamsu Hidayat at the 25th oath taking ceremony of the ULM's Faculty of Dentistry (FKG-ULM), Tuesday.

He, who represented ULM Rector Prof. Sutarto Hadi, said that the knowledged they gained from their lecture and practicing at the Gusti Hasan Aman Dental and Oral Hospital, as well as network hospitals and puskesmas (community health centers) were valuable assets to enter the community and develop careers in the future.

Syamsu hopes the alumni of FKG ULM to improve the dental and oral health of the people of South Kalimantan who are quite prone to tooth decay, becaue they live in peat soil area where the water acidity is quite high. 

The strategic role and dedication of dentists, either working in government facilities, private, or indenpendent agencies, are highly expected to participate in building a prosperous and just Indonesian society.

"Especially during the ongoing pandemic, health services, including teeth and mouth, are very important. We encourage the role of ULM educated dentists to make real contribution to society," Syamsu said as he read the written remarks of the rector.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FKG-ULM Dr Drg Maharani Laillyza Apriasari Sp.PM said that the additional 23 graduates made the total of 276 dentists produced by ULM.
