Mayor H Ibnu Sina said to make Banjarmasin a MICE (meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition) city, his government allowed investors to build a large ballroom adjacent to the river.
"I collaborated with several companies and developers to make the riverside area a comfortable place for meeting buildings, for events, to build a nice ballroom building on the riverbank, we give permission," he said when he was a speaker for the Antaranews Kalsel's podcast, on Monday.
According to him, MICE is related to how the city becomes a place for meetings, large-scale events, and the City of Banjarmasin has the best potential, even geographically.
"Banjarmasin is the most convenient and geographically easy place to visit, because it is in the middle of Indonesia," he said.
From the beginning, said Ibnu Sina, his government's slogan was "Banjarmasin Baiman" which meant a clean and comfortable city, including to create a MICE city.
"People will not come if our city is dirty, so we have to clean our streets, our environment, our rivers, lastly, clean to the heart, because our city is a religious city," he explained.
While the meaning of comfortable, namely a city that provides convenience in dealing, fast and easy in service, comfortable for studying, comfortable for medication, then comfortable in doing business.

All of this, said Ibnu Sina, there are three focuses, namely river management with revitalization for tourism and transportation.
"Our river is functioning properly to divide land transportation. We have built five piers, we integrate them with public transportation on land," he said.
The second focus is to produce new entrepreneurs based on micro, small and medium enterprises as a trading and service city, of course Banjarmasin must excel.
"The final focus is on how to provide fast and easy service based on the smart city of Banjarmasin," he said.
